  • Learn anatomy through immersive exploration: In each four-hour session, students begin with an in-person anatomy presentation, then explore and interact with 3D anatomy, examine medical-style cross-sectional views, assemble anatomical systems with their own hands in VR, join instructor-led discussions, and complete quizzes to reinforce their knowledge.

  • Explore eight interactive labs with a dedicated headset: Each student receives a Meta Quest 3S reserved exclusively for them throughout the five-session program. Labs cover the cardiovascular, skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, neural, and sensory systems, plus whole-body anatomy.

  • Share with parents: During the final session, each student presents one body system in VR to parents, demonstrating their anatomy knowledge, ability to use VR technology,  and science communication skills.

  • Instructor: Sophia Shao, a UCI pre-medical student. Learn more about Sophia: here.
Program developed by: Laszlo Bardoczi, Assistant Professor at UCI. More about Laszlo: here.

  • Learn through hands-on activities: Each 4-hour session combines in-person instruction with VR anatomy exploration, medical-style cross-sectional imaging, system assembly, interactive quizzes, and team challenges.
